End of March was our annual ski trip and this year Lethy came with us!

Due to a complete debacle of cancellations, delays, rides to and from airports with no flights in between, and the resulting extra full day at work we arrived 24 hours later than planned.

Not to be deterred, I abused “single ride” passes and snuck a half day in after being awake roughly 45 out of 48 hours.

Lethy hit the slopes for the first time on skis and while there is no photographic proof, we did see her doing quite well several times! The rest of the trip however, she decided to go snowshoeing.

Skiing was great full days 1 and 2 but things kept getting warmer and warmer. 2nd to last night the sky let loose and a wintry mix began to fall. We took a shuttle to Buck’s T4 for some delicious food and crossed our fingers. The last morning, snow was falling and conditions were FANTASTIC.

8 inches or so of perfectly fluffy powder was on the ground at the start of the day. It was like you could point downhill and just let the powder slow you down… turns were optional, regardless of the steep.

Ken made an intentionally accidental wrong turn off trail and found a great steep through some huge yet nicely spaced moguls with lightly scattered trees, stumps and boulders. The map implies it is a closed area fittingly called “Stump Farm.” Ken and I continued going on that run the rest of the day. All the while until around 1 pm, the snow continued to fall at some points on Stump Farm, it was knee deep… and my knees are pretty high up!

A view up at me, taking a breather on Stump Farm:

It’s hard to get a good sense of depth of snow and angle of terrain from that shot… this one gives a little better vantage point:

As usual, a great ski trip!

Looking forward to next year… who knows where we go!

Tonight kicks off part of the summer concert series…. up first: 30 Seconds to Mars!
