Woke up early to get breakfast at the market. Check out of the hotel and set off on our drive out to middle of nowheresville, WA.

Drive goes pretty smoothly, but we have to wait a couple hours for our room to be ready. Drop off stuff and we head to the Gorge. We arrive pretty much exactly in time to go in 30 minutes early with our super duper fan club GA tix.

We make the critical decision.. forget a nice comfy spot on the grass or sitting on a nice big rock, we’re going for front and center – and we got it:

2.5 hours of standing in the semi sun and sitting on heated asphault when finally Meat Puppets take the stage…

A very short set list, but they sounded really good. All of Soundgarden was hanging out stage left listening too, cool to see.

Next up was Mastadon, who honestly were not that good. I’m just not a fan of Scream-o…

Starting to get pretty full as the sun is beginning to set…
Next up Queens of the Stone Age (without Dave Grohl).
They were pretty good, despite Josh Homme being pretty drunk. Setlist was almost exactly what I wanted.

Finally dark and the crowd really started to feel the anticipation.
Having traveled across the country and then stood there all day in the heat, I kind of new it would somehow be a bit of a let down.
Not that they were bad, but I guess our expectations were huge. There was a lot of hoping for Eddie Veddar to show up and do some Temple of The Dog songs.
The setlist was pretty good, although short by their standards because of 4 bands.

We actually left during Room a Thousand Years wide, but could still hear clearly all the way back at the car as they finished Slaves & Bulldozers. We slept well that night.
