The weekend after we returned from Europe, we went out to PNC in NJ with Liz and Dave to catch the Uproar Fest.
We arrived kinda early and watched some of the 2nd + 3rd stage acts. No one was super impressive, but we walked around and tried a few different beers and did a lot of people watching.
Early in the day, there was definitely a high percentage of people there who were dressed/behaved in… unique? ways. Obviously as more people arrived for the larger acts, that density decreased.
Coheed + Cambria were pretty good. Their set was relatively short, but their songs are pretty long. They played a bunch of songs I know, so that was good.
Jane’s Addiction were easily the most entertaining. Perry Ferrell is always … odd … in a good way. He seemed to be having a lot of fun. Their stage act now includes 2 scantily clad dominatrix inspired women who dance together around the stage. It was a little distracting at times. Dave Navarro (guitar, also of RHCP) looked like himself. Shirtless, head down, just playing out the songs without too much interaction.
Alice in Chains were the headliner and seemed a little out of place after the highly interactive show given by Jane’s addiction. They sounded great, they really had the bass pumped up and the grind aspect of their musical style was in full force. It was LOUD. They only played 2 songs off the new album, which was nice. The new album is OK, but everyone is there for the old stuff.
This Setlist doesn’t look complete to me – but they did NOT play No Excuses (sadface):
